Looking back on 2025, First Tee Four Corners has much to celebrate.

We continue to expand our impact by growing youth programs, strengthening community partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities both locally and nationally. This year, we deepened our investment in coaches and mentors who inspire young people though golf and life skills.

Through PGA HOPE and the Veterans League, we also continue to serve veterans by building a supportive community grounded in camaraderie, purpose and healing through the game.

The Indigo & Gopher Matches are a national, Ryder Cup-style event that brings together First Tee participants and Underrated Golf Tour players for competition, mentorship and leadership development.

This year, Conner Neff, a senior at Farmington High School and member of both the basketball and golf teams, was selected to represent First Tee Four Corners at the Indigo & Gopher Matches. Conner has grown up in First Tee, and his selection reflects years of dedication, leadership, and personal growth. Competing on a national Stage gave him valuable experience, expanded his network, and strengthened his confidence on and off the course.

Partnerships

Big Brothers Big Sisters of SWCO

This partnership brings mentorship to life through golf. First Tee shares our life skills curriculum with Bigs and Littles, creating a meaningful space for connection, confidence-building, and fun.

After three weeks of skill-building and games, the experience culminates in the “Little Swing,” a celebratory nine-hole event where matches are joined by the Fort Lewis College Golf team. The day brings mentorship full circle, surrounding youth with positive role models and reinforcing the power of relationships through sport.

“My Little and I had such a great time. Many of us had little to no experience with golf prior to this and really wouldn’t have had the chance to try it out. Now we are planning to make golf part of our match outings moving forward!” – Ryan, Big Brother

Elementary Schools

The First Tee School Program supports PE classrooms by providing golf equipment, teacher training, and curriculum that integrates life skills with physical activity.

The highlight of the program is a field trip to Riverview Golf Course, where students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom on a real course. For many, it’s their first time on a golf course and a memorable experience that builds excitement and confidence.

Hózhó Naashá with Navajo Prep

In partnership with Navajo Preparatory School, we support Hózhó Naashá, a Navajo philosophy meaning “walk in beauty,” rooted in balance, respect, and harmony.

Through this afterschool program, students engage in structured activities that reinforce cultural values while building confidence, character, and life skills.

Golf serves as a hands on learning tool giving students opportunities to practice discipline, patience, and respect for others and the envirionment.

Meet Hayden Dan & 2025 Gamechangers Academy

The First Tee Game Changers Academy is a national leadership program that brings together top teens from across the country to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and learn how to create positive change through golf.

This year, Hayden Dan, a Sophomore at Kirtland Central High School and a member of the KCHS golf team, was selected to participate. Hayden’s first exposure to golf came through the First Tee National School Program at Kirtland Elementary, and after years of involvement with First Tee, her journey has come full circle. Her selection reflects her leadership, dedication, and commitment to representing First Tee Four Corners with excellence on and off the course.

Girls Golf

Our Girls Golf Program offers two sessions led by Coach Fay, creating a welcoming space for girls to build skills, confidence, and leadership. Through our partnership with New Beginnings Shelter, girls from diverse backgrounds form meaningful friendships and supportive connections.

Older participants mentor younger girls, serving as positive role models while building confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. The program helps girls grow on and off the course while keeping golf fun.

First Tee Veterans Programs

Our Veterans Programs continue to grow and have become one of the most meaningful areas of our work. We use golf as a way to support veterans as they navigate the physical, emotional, and social challenges connected to their service.

Time on the golf course offers more than recreation. It provides a therapeutic outlet, a shared experience, and a pathway to renewed purpose and community.

PGA HOPE Helping Our Patriots Everywhere

PGA HOPE offers free 6 week golf sessions for veterans. The program supports participants’ overall well being through structured instruction, camaraderie, and meaningful time on the golf course.

Led by or local PGA Professionals, the PGA HOPE program happens in the Spring and Fall at San Juan Country Club and Civitan Golf Course. We have graduated 81 veterans since beginning in 2022.
